UN Activities for Women in Kenya
Kenya has taken meaningful steps toward gender equality — including legislation addressing domestic violence and sexual offences, financial programs supporting women entrepreneurs, and greater female participation in public and elected roles. Yet the pace of change remains insufficient. Data from UN Women and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), published in 2020, indicates that only around three in ten women in Kenya can be considered empowered. Key obstacles include gaps in law enforcement, limited funding, weak accountability structures, and the persistence of patriarchal attitudes and discriminatory social norms.
Talent Mapping Outreach — Sensitization and Inclusion Workshops
We were honored to host Phase 1 of the "Talent Mapping" Outreach — Sensitization and Inclusion Workshops! 🌍
This first phase directly tackles the barriers identified at the FLAIR Summit — from limited access to STEM pathways to gender-based constraints that hold talented young people back.
A key focus of our inclusion efforts: dedicated categories and "wildcard" sports spots reserved specifically for girls from marginalized backgrounds — because talent has no boundaries.
More to come as we move through the next phases. Stay tuned! 💪
